the afterlife?
if suddenly you found out without question that there is absolutely NO afterlife….would you live differently? if so…how?
Very good question. I think I would be the same. I follow judaism, and I love the community, I love the food
I’d love giving thanks even if there was no reason too. I would still pray for loved ones in trouble or gone, if only to stop and remember them.
Well, there is one thing different I would do – I would never stop hoping there was an afterlife.
What would be worse ? Atheist finds Hell is Real, or Theist finds afterlife is a myth ?
An Atheist finding out that God / Devil / Hell is REAL, or a Theist ( of any particular religion ) finding out there is no Afterlife / God after all ? What would be the bigger shock ?
how could anyone find out that there is no afterlife if the person is dead?
The Afterlife?
Whether you beleive in an Aferlife, or Reincarnation
..or not.
Do you beleive that the idea of some form of afterlife is a very effective marketing tool for religions?
Great answers so far
–How will I pick the best?
i believe in energy. It is the one thing that never dies and constantly travels. It is within us and i believe that when we die, our energy passes on to something else. What exactly, we may never know, but it is the only thing that i am sure of personally.
Afterlife is an EXTREME marketing tool for religions. I believe it gets people to practice a certain faith out of nothing more than a fear of what is to come when we cease to exist on earth.
Why wouldn’t you believe that a rabbit will have an afterlife as a perfected rabbit in a carrot-filled heaven?
My question is, people seem to think that that would be a ridiculous notion, however. I don’t see how that could be ridiculous if humans can get the same thing? Why is a rabbit having an afterlife as a perfected rabbit in a carrot-filled heaven somewhere else in this world seen as an unthinkable unlikeliness?
Ah yes, the rabbiture theory.
What’s so bunny bout peace love & understanding.
Are there really 77 virgins waiting a martyr in the afterlife?
Almost every terrorist is promised it and seems to believe it before a suicide terror act! It’ll be terrible to enter the afterlife being greeted by hundreds of sheepish-faced fellow suicides shaking their heads in disgust at being conned by some cleric who’s still alive and well.
they are 77 now? ROFL
suicide bombers=nothing’s for them, probably punished as suicide is forbidden in Islam.
martyr who dies defending Islam or his country_shot a war or sth,not by bombing himself_is said to be rewarded 72 hooris which are beautiful women in heaven.
but who said that other men don’t get any? all men in heaven according to the Quran will be rewarded many women in Heaven.
Movies that take place in the afterlife such as What Dreams May Come, Wristcutters: A Love Story and?
…Defending Your Life.
What other movies do you know of that takes place in the afterlife?
hellraiser 2
If you’re consciousness is contained within the brain, why do people believe in an afterlife?
You’re emotions and consciousness are chemical processes within the brain. When you die, you’re brain ceases to function and rots away. Good bye consciousness. So, unless some god keeps a carbon copy of you’re emotions to activate upon you’re death, you’re gone. Why is this so hard to understand? And if god does have an afterlife, why not just have us there in the first place? We don’t really learn anything here about the afterlife, or how to live in it.
Because Imaginationland is a wondrous place.
Is hell the penalty for sins or is an afterlife without God the penalty for our sins?
And a follow-up question: Is hell the penalty for not believing in God or is an afterlife without God the penalty for not believing in God? Do people go to hell for sinning or for not believing in God?
The state of being without God is the exact definition of hell.
We are in hell when we put anything else but God first in our hearts. That’s how people come to be "in hell." If we have a change of heart and consciously put God first, then we are participating in the Kingdom of heaven.
the afterlife?
will you be known in heaven as your known here and be reunited with your family upon reaching the afterlife?
In Heaven, you will be in the prime of your life. You will remember those who made it to Heaven, but God will not allow the memories of those who went to hell so that you will not miss them, or be sad. There is no pain or tears in Heaven.
The dead in Christ shall rise to meet the Lord in the air. Our physical bodies will be changed, & we will be dressed in robes of white.
How can you enjoy your afterlife?
While your friend and family members suffer eternal torment in hell? The people that you love. Will you not feel for them? Will you not miss them as they burn for all Eternity? What type of afterlife is that? Is that the type that you want? When so many millions of them are simply regular, "good" people who were in the "wrong religion?" Little children, grandmas, people who have done wonderful things, millions of people who led wonderful lives, suffering in hell because they did not accept Jesus?
one of the best questions if not the best question on here. just shows how illogical christians are, they’re so afraid to die that they don’t even realize what would their perception of heaven be like. if i had to spend all eternity somewhere i’d be bored out of my mind and beg to die.
