Christians: Would you still be Christian if the Bible contained no promise of an afterlife?

its like leading a donkey, you need the carrot in front as a reward (heaven) and the stick behind as punishment (hell)

without of which, the system of control fails.

the entire point of a religion is an afterlife, other then that it would be just following a set of values for your own sake and not to please a god into being let into their heaven.

I am christian and I don’t seek a afterlife, it’s not my goal. It is a gift for simply trusting and following. I would rather see My God, Creator and Father and just telling thank you for your trust and faith in me.

We would not be having this discussion if there was no afterlife. You are an Atheist, what would you be if there were no God believers?

I’m a Christian because Jesus Christ is God the eternal Son and I acknowledge Him as such through the regeneration He gave me..

Christianity is about believing in God’s Promise. The good and the bad. So how could I be a Christian if there was no promise? God’s promise is given with the Him suggesting to us that we are to have expectations of Him. This establishes a relationship between the God and man. God gave us His promise (which is His word) to establish a relationship with us. Relationships require reciprocation. The OT bible was about how we trampled over God’s promise, and is definitely not meant to show the righteousness of His people. The NT bible is about fulling His promise to us and revealing the true nature of God which is His love for life and His determination not to see it perish. The NT also reveals the true nature of man; which becomes evident through our treatment of The Fulfilled Promise. Thankfully, the trampling or accepting of this promise has succeeded in individualizing us so that He can save a few if not the whole bunch. Because many have continued in the OT way.

    Yes, of course.
I would still believe that Jesus existed.
I would also still fallow the social morals he taught us because they are very peacefull and down to earth.

Why are you only asking christians an not other religions that also believe in an afterlife? Do you have something against christianity?
