What are you more afraid of, death or the afterlife?

Believe in afterlife is optional. Please give a reason why dying/afterlife scares you.

It not so much that I am afraid of death. I am more afraid of the act of dying. Say if I died in my sleep, it would be find; but if I was shot and left bleeding that would scare me. The thought of knowing before you die that you are going to die, will make anyone afraid of. Like all humans, many people fear the unknown and changes. Their are a lot of speculations on the afterlife, but not that many certain answers. For those that are rooted in their religion and know that they have abide all the rules/commandment would fear it less. So to be clear to the answer to you question, I fear the process of death.

Neither scares me, the first because we all die, just accept it, and second because there is no afterlife.

I AM scared however, of the possible methods of my demise. I hate pain, it hurts…

Honestly, if death is just the absence of being, and I’ll just… cease to exist, I sometimes think I’d be better off than living in the afterlife. Well… actually that depends on WHOSE afterlife. The Muslim afterlife talks about endless food, rich clothes, reclining in chairs being waited on, music, and all that jazz, which doesn’t sound too bad. The Christian afterlife, though, where all you do is sing and sing and sing some more, and just be gosh darned HAPPY about it, is rather scary in my opinion. I’d rather not exist than be some creepy automaton.

*I don’t know for sure if I’m truly afraid of either. I’m not "afraid" of death but I don’t want to die. I don’t want to die because of the sadness I would leave behind in the hearts of loved ones left behind. Of course, I would be sad, before I die, to know that I will no longer be a part of this world as I know it and won’t be "there" to see certain things.

The afterlife: Well, I’m hoping there’s an afterlife because that’s what I’ve been taught. If there is, and I believe there is, I will be at peace, with no pain or suffering or sadness and I will be with those I love and in heaven, what I suppose is a most glorious place. If there is no afterlife, then what is there to be afraid of? I view the afterlife, if there is one, to be all good things. So, if there is none, I don’t know what there is, maybe nothing, but there is then nothing to be scared of.

Each is nothing to be afraid of. Maybe something to wish for or to wonder about, but nothing to be scared of.

im scared of death because when you die you will be in the state of nothingness. And there is no after life to look forward to and I will be non existent,

At least Im comforted that when I die, I will not be roasting in some hell…that is purely nonesense and mythical.

Not scared at all. Life sucks almost as much as the planet itself. And why would i want to go through this hell again in the afterlife? Screw that!

Um, death because I don’t look forward to any pain. However, I wouldn’t say I’m Afraid of it, just not looking forward to it. I’m actually looking forward to the afterlife, whatever it is. Whether it’s nothing (there is none) or it’s something else. Not to say that I don’t enjoy life, because I do, I love it. But I’m also looking forward to the end of it. Sounds morbid and stuff, but it’s really not. Anyway to answer shortly, lol, I’m not afraid of death or the afterlife, just not looking forward to any pain that might come along with death.

I’m not afraid of death. And I’m not afraid of an afterlife. I’m afraid that an afterlife doesn’t exist, and if we just cease to exist (like Buddhists believe), that just scares me. It is just an odd thing to think about… Like, as if you were in a coma for the rest of eternity. Spooky.

I am not afraid of the afterlife, I am saved. I know where I will be going. But death is a different story. I am not afraid of the pain. I just hate wondering how it is going to happen and how it will effect my family members. I don’t want any of them to be sad. I know that I can handle all of the rest but the thought of seeing them sad makes me sad.
