Can divorce records help me with genealogy?

Divorce records are an important part of researching your family tree, you need to find out when a branch of the family splits so you can research them further and find out where the new branches go. Start your search online by typing the records you need plus the state where they would be, into Google, like ‘divorce records Texas‘. Then have a look at the sites that come up and you’ll quickly find out what records you can get and how to get your hands on them. Sometimes you can get them for free, other times you will have to either pay the office where they are stored to do a search for you, or join one of those subscription sites.
